SCPHOTO is an eLearning resource for schools, home school or independent adult students to use to expand their skills in photography. Following a social constructive style of learning students interactively study and explore lessons, assignments, quizzes, forums, glossaries, wiki's and online workshops in learning experiences or courses that build the skills every professional photographer uses in their work.

NOTE: It is NOT too late to enroll in any of these courses. Although some students and schools have already begun there is no penalty for starting late. Enroll today and get started learning how to turn your snapshots into real prize winning photographs.

Accounts that are not used for more than 90 days are automatically unenrolled from their courses and will need to contact the course administrator to be reinstated. School groups are deleted every summer and must sign up again with a new PO to continue for the next school year. All subscriptions to the textbook are valid for a maximum of 1 year.

BASIC PHOTOGRAPHY

Time tested Basic Photography curriculum aimed at classroom or independent study at a high school or middle school level. Independent study students receive one-to-one instruction on their assignments and projects from Instructor Keith Wills who has taught photography in High School for over 28 years. Open enrollment for independent study may begin at any time. Study at your own pace up to one year in time.

Basic Photography
Special Edition

This is a copy of the Basic Photography course that has been redesigned to fit a 27 week format at the request of a home school.

Specifically set up for a group of home school students this class can be used by any school or group that meets one hour per week in a face to face class and asks students to complete 2 to 4 hours of homework each week outside of class.

Special Editions may be requested by any group that has special needs and will enroll at least 10 students.The price per student is a little higher to cover the redesign process.

This class is designed to be managed by your own teacher. Assessment is not done by SCPHOTO.

Mini Photography Course - 6 weeks

Exploring Photography

This is a basic 6 week enrichment course. Many of our home school students and a few schools or clubs have just a few weeks worth of meetings to study photography. This is a "mini" course for those students. This course can be completed in as few as 5 to 10 meetings (with homework assignments between sessions). Explore the fundamentals of photography essential to advanced work with this wonderful communications tool.

Basic Photography Textbook

This web site contains the lessons used in the SCPHOTO Basic Photography class minus the discussion forums and the ability to submit assignments online. Students / schools enrolled in any of the other SCPHOTO courses do not need to sign up for the textbook for it would duplicate content.

This web site is intended to be used by schools needing a textbook for their photography class and are shocked by prices of upwards to $50 per paper copy. This electronic textbook contains lessons and projects designed to guide students through the fundamentals of photography. A classroom tested curriculum based on 28 years of teaching at Santa Cruz High this textbook will provide schools with a "green" alternative to big bulky and quickly outdated textbooks. This eBook will be updated frequently during the year and can be customized for your school needs by writing a request to Keith Wills.

In a similar way this is a free web site for any photography teacher wanting to share or discover things about teaching photography. Many photo teachers are professionals or amateurs who love to take pictures and they find themselves lost when it comes to getting students to discover that love in a class.
