The process of photography must be sealed into your mind by actually doing the things you read about and see. The projects in this class start with these simple applications of the basics of photography. The shadowgram will help you see how simple the basics process of photography is. All we need is light and a  light sensitive material.  You will also learn the basic chemicals with this project.  The next set of pictures contains the composition, ecology, building, posed and candid and should be taken on your first full of film.  These help convert your thinking on what makes a good photo from the snap shot approach to the photographic approach.  The focus on these shots will be in the message of the photo.  The technical skills will be picked up  during these projects as you learn to use the shutter and aperture and focus the camera.  The basics of the the enlarger and darkroom will start with these pictures.  Your second roll of film will be to demonstrate how the camera controls effect the final photo. You will want to use the aperture to control the background and the shutter to control motion. These are DIFFICULT projects and will only be possible after reading the material and looking at the samples.

The reading and magazine section are in class work that students do when the darkroom is full or when the camera equipment is busy. These things are read and done to build your knowledge. But knowledge without application is not going to produce change in your skills.....so do these along WITH the projects.  To our web site visitors start with these projects after reading the material in the Technical section and in the  reading section at the bottom of the list.
