Before doing this assignment READ the section on Motion under the camera in Tech Help for information and techniques, vocabulary, etc.
Notice how the shutter differences in these two pictures causes the motion of the subject to be presented in a different way. Here the photographer set the shutter as indicated and adjusted the exposure by adjusting the aperture until the meter was in the center. To get the shutter open for 1/30 second you may need to be in the deep shade or indoors or use a low speed (ASA) film like T-Max 100. You will also find this project will work best if you get CLOSE to your subject - like 5 to 10 feet away - to make the movement in your camera viewfinder and frame more dramatic.
For this assignment you are to demonstrate how the shutter controls motion. This is a TWO photo assignment. Put the two pictures in your notebook and label them for shutter speed used and aperture used. You will need to keep a log for this, do not try to use your memory. As usual you should follow the rules of composition and you should have something interesting to do the effect on. You can also review the class notes for this assignment on Day 11 to review what was discussed in class as far as technique or hints.
