INFRA RED PHOTOGRAPHY - Film

INFRA RED LIGHT is light we can not see. It is light that reflects back strongly off of hot objects. Infra Red light also is reflected off of living trees causing them to appear white rather than black.  To use infra red film the photographer must put a deep red filter on the camera to drop out the blue light that the film also  can see. Infra red film has an ASA of 100 but may not record accurately on a light meter. The film is considered to be an experimental film and an art effects film.  It is great for making pictures that will be hand colored later.

For this assignment you will work in teams of 6 with a 36 shot roll of film.  If you want to work on your own you will have to purchase the film on your own.  It is diffucult to find because Kodak only makes it a few months out of the year. Once purchased it should remain refrigerated.  When loading it into the camera the photograper should be in the darkroom under dim safe light. Loading into the film container for processing needs to be done in a changing bag or in a spot that has NO light at all leaking into the room.
