Now this is even harder to see than weight. Balance is again a FEELING in a photo. Objects that are DOMINANT need to be placed closer to the center of the photo than objects that are less eye catching. Balance is much like a seesaw in having large heavy objects near the center and light objects farther away to maintain balance. This is something you will have to look for in pictures you see. Look at ones that you find comfortable to look at and see what shapes are there and how the big and small, dark and light shapes are spread out in the photo.
