This is a hard one. Weight is the difference in color or brightness or even size that happens in subject. Our eye is drawn to contrast in size, shape or color. These difference in weight or emphasis in a photo help create a strong emotion. Look for lighting that creates objects that have differences in brightness....one object that is brighter that attracts your attention more. Pay attention to things in your photo that are behind your center of interest and make sure that they do not carry more VISUAL WEIGHT than the subject. Movie and TV photographers are masters at this in making a background darker when it is not needed. Darker carries less weight.
