The texture shot is new the bag of tricks. If you look through old National Geographics magazines in the 50's and 60's you will not find these. It is a new idea. Here you will find a photo that has no ONE point or object that gets your attention. These are usually shots that are farther away from a single object allowing us to take in a wider view of the subject. They usually are used with other pictures in a STORY that helps us get an idea of what is happening in a place. We call them textures because they create a visual roughness or feeling that would be much like the feeling we get if we rub our hands over a textured surface.
