Frames can be made of ANY object that is closer to the camera than the subject. It is usually a TREE or a rock or some object found in the environment. It can also be a door, a table or simple another person or object that is so close it is not in focus. The purpose of a frame is to add depth to the feeling of a photo. We work with two dimensional paper and it is hard to get the feeling of depth in a flat photo. Frames help get that feeling. Look for them in TV shows and movies or magazine shots. They are there, see if you can find them now.
